As part of Paris Design Week 2026, ARCHIK Paris is hosting “Intériora,” an exhibition by Sébastien Gafari. Blending contemporary design, household objects, and the memory of spaces, the artist envisions an interior in transition where invisible presences take center stage.
With Intériora, Sébastien Gafari explores the memory of places through the objects that inhabit them.
Set in an interior in the midst of a move, the exhibition reveals what remains when everything else seems to disappear: a reflection, a scent, a texture, a presence.
A series of trumeaux, a fragrance conceived as an olfactory inventory of the space, and a table crafted from reclaimed wood make up this evocative installation, where architecture, design, and craftsmanship reveal the invisible traces that continue to breathe life into an interior.
True to Sébastien Gafari’s artistic vision, this new exhibition invites us to take a fresh look at our living spaces. Spanning architecture, design, and the decorative arts, the exhibition reveals the poetry of everyday objects and celebrates what endures as places change: memories, customs, and the invisible presences that continue to define a space.
The artiste
As an architect and designer, Sébastien Gafari has developed a unique practice centered on trumeaux and domestic objects—true reflections of our interior architecture and ways of living. First showcased at the 2024 Design Parade at Villa Noailles, he reimagines the trumeau, moving beyond its decorative function to transform it into a tool for exploration, examining the memory of places, the passage of time, and the invisible presences that shape our interiors.
His work draws inspiration from what escapes the eye: a lingering scent, a reflection, the void left by a moved piece of furniture, or the trace of a painting that has been taken down. Through his creations, he crafts evocative installations where architecture, design, and the decorative arts interact to reveal the poetry of everyday life.
To step across the threshold of an interior in transition, where objects, scents, and reflections become the silent guardians of the place’s memory.
