CHIPS CHIPS CHIPS CHIPS | HUGO JOIRKIN

Sept – Dec 2026

ARCHIK welcomes ceramicist Hugo Joirkin for an immersive experience of his unique world, where the material bends, stretches and seems to defy its own weight.

With CHIPS CHIPS CHIPS CHIPS, Hugo JOIRKIN creates a world where ceramics take on a light, almost supple quality. Curves, folds and volumes come together to form a landscape of organic shapes, striking a balance between equilibrium and tension.
Conceived in collaboration with Céleste Laurent, the exhibition design extends this visual language into the space, like a projection of a dream workshop where each piece naturally finds its place.

The title CHIPS CHIPS CHIPS CHIPS draws on the artist’s earliest works. His hanging sculptures, initially modelled in plaster and later in earthenware, are characterised by their free-form, irregular contours, which were quickly likened to ‘chips’.
For a time, this name became his first artist’s name. Today, Hugo JOIRKIN revives it as a nod to the origins of his practice, bridging memory, experimentation and continuity.

L'artiste

After studying photography, Hugo JOIRKIN trained at the Monaco School of Fine Arts, where he developed a practice in sculpture and the visual arts. He began by creating mobiles out of plaster, before discovering a completely different medium – ceramics – which, through its diversity and richness, offers boundless scope for experimentation. He creates hanging pieces and vases with organic, minimalist forms. Balance plays a central role in his practice. His work focuses on lightness, volume and the simplicity of lines, with particular attention paid to textures and finishes. Through his work, he explores a form of utopia, a world suspended and floating. Nature is a profound source of inspiration for his creative process.

A fabric in motion, combining folds, balance and lightness, like an invitation to step into a dream workshop.
