The duo at the head of Sensible Paris is composed of Sophie, a graduate of the Arts Décoratifs de Paris, and Florian, a design enthusiast. Sophie first cut her teeth in leather goods while Florian, a self-taught artist, worked as an exhibition director at Pascal Cuisinier Gallery, then trained in decoration with architect-scenographer Émilie Bonaventure.
Founded in 2019, Sensible is a multidisciplinary interior design studio. Sophie & Florian design precise and mixed interiors, finely selecting furniture, lighting and antique objects that they take great pleasure in hunting down. Celebrating gesture, proportion and material, Sensible advocates the concept of wabi-sabi, which values “time” as a new material.
Inspired by both fashion and the history of decorative arts, Sophie & Florian approach their projects as designers like the creation of a wardrobe. A few strong pieces matched with essentials, to define a unique style whose key words are functionality, timelessness and elegance. The manifesto of Sensible Paris can be summed up in this principle dear to William Morris: “Don’t have anything in your home that you don’t find useful or beautiful.”
The duo shares with ARCHIK the same requirement, but also a mission: to invent new ways of living well at home, to create its own “art” of living.
