Modern architecture defines this remarkable building designed by Jean-Roger Franck. On the first and top floor, it houses a 90-square-meter apartment with a terrace offering sea views, just 350 meters from Chay Beach.

Built in 1957, the Thalassa residence comprises a small condominium of four apartments and elegantly incorporates the architectural vocabulary of Royan's post-war reconstruction. The upper apartment is directly connected to the street by a monumental exterior staircase. Like a true sculpture, helical, without risers and with a single stringer, it is presented within an imposing V-shaped projection surmounted by a boldly shaped concrete canopy. The contrasting colors highlight the structure. The architect's aesthetic sensibility led him to position a row of glass blocks at the junction of the V and the canopy, which shimmer through the transparent glass at sunset. The house is arranged around an entrance hall which leads first to two comfortable bedrooms with thick, light wool carpeting and built-in storage, a shower room, and a bathroom. Two steps then lead to the spacious living room, whose four bay windows flood the room with light. The original light wood flooring and immaculate white walls accentuate the brightness. The room extends onto a balcony-terrace created by a subtle setback of the main facade on the upper floor. Protected by the cantilevered roof slab, it faces the horizon, where the sea offers a broad and delicate glimpse. A separate, fitted and equipped kitchen, as well as a third bedroom, complete this level. A large private garage completes the property.

A bright main residence or an elegant secondary retreat, suspended above the coastline.
