DESIGNERS

Atelier George is a duo composed of Eve George and Laurent Fichot, designers and glassblowers. Their work, which develops formal and technical research around glass, is exhibited at Design Miami, PAD Paris, Paris Design Week, and Artcurial in 2024. The duo is also the winner of the Concorso Internazionale di Vetro artistico e di Design (Milan, 2018) and the Académie des Savoir-Faire (Fondation Hermès, 2021). It is supported by institutions such as the Fondation Banque Populaire, the Ministry of Culture, and the Villa Albertine in New York. In 2021, Atelier George designed an exclusive first edition for ARCHIK, Tango, showcasing blown glass.
Their new piece, “Albe,” created for the “Ex Libris” collection, is inspired by a half-moon, symbolizing a moment conducive to reading. Its truncated disc shape seems to fade behind the books in a library. It emerges from a block of transparent glass, moiré with bubbles and white waves, resembling reflections. The composition also evokes a boat’s sail, and with it, a journey, whether imaginary or introspective. The half-disc is blown using the ancestral technique of cive: a bubble of molten glass that is stretched into a disc by centrifugal force. The base is made of solid, hot-cast glass.
